CBC India's EP630 conveyor belt marks the absolute tensile ceiling of multi-ply EP fabric belt technology — specified for extreme bulk material handling in major mining complexes, power stations, and large seaport terminals where operating tensions, span distances, and throughput volumes sit at the uppermost boundary of what textile carcass construction can deliver before steel cord becomes the engineering requirement. Per DIN 22102 and EN ISO 14890, the EP630/4 configuration establishes a total breaking strength of 630 kN per meter of belt width across four fabric plies, each rated at approximately 160 N/mm, positioning this belt as CBC India's highest-specification fabric alternative to lower ST steel cord grades in long-distance, high-tonnage conveying applications where routing geometry and system economics retain the case for a flexible textile carcass.

Construction

The EP630 carcass is built from four polyester warp and polyamide nylon weft fabric plies in the standard EP630/4 configuration, vulcanized with rubber skim layers between each ply achieving inter-ply carcass adhesion of 4.5 N/mm minimum per DIN 22102. This adhesion specification is the primary structural safeguard against the progressive delamination that defines fabric belt failure under the severe dynamic loading associated with 500 mm lump material at primary transfer points — the critical failure mode that determines service life outcome at this tensile class more than any other in-service variable. Maximum elongation at 10% stretch is limited to 2%, the tightest elongation specification in CBC India's EP fabric range, reflecting the EP630's high-modulus carcass construction and its direct consequence for belt tracking stability across long conveyor center distances. Standard belt widths run 800–2,500 mm with roll lengths up to 1,500 m per section. Total belt thickness ranges from 13–16 mm with a reference mass of 25–35 kg/m².

Standard cover configurations include 6+2 mm and 6+3 mm top and bottom arrangements in DIN Grade Y compound with a maximum abrasion loss of 150 mm³. Heat-resistant formulations are available to 220°C for elevated-temperature clinker and calcined material applications. Oil-resistant MOR grade compounds serve contaminated material streams, flame-retardant variants comply with ISO 284 and EN 16974 for underground mining installations, and cleated profiles are available for steep incline conveying up to 22°. Rip-resistant constructions with additional canvas reinforcement provide longitudinal integrity protection in sharp-edged material loading environments. Minimum pulley diameters are specified at 1,250 mm across all EP630 configurations.

Performance

Working elongation at the 2% maximum specification enables single-flight conveyor spans of 4.0–6.0 km with exceptional dimensional stability, consistent belt tracking, and reduced take-up travel — performance characteristics that exceed every lower EP grade and approach the operational behaviour of lower-rated ST steel cord belts at equivalent span. Impact resistance exceeds 10 times that of cotton canvas constructions at equivalent belt width, with deep troughability accommodating 500 mm lump material without inter-ply delamination or structural cover failure. Operating speeds reach 8.5 m/s with volumetric capacities of 10,000–20,000 tonnes per hour. Compared to equivalent-width ST2500 steel cord belting, the EP630 carcass achieves a weight reduction of approximately 60%, reducing drive power consumption by up to 50% in applications where duty cycle remains within the fabric belt tensile and span envelope.

Installation and Maintenance

Precision multi-step finger hot-vulcanized splices achieve 98% joint efficiency — the highest splice efficiency specification in CBC India's entire EP fabric belt programme and a direct reflection of the EP630's position at the structural ceiling of textile carcass belt construction. In-service monitoring integrates X-ray splice inspection, DIN abrasion gauge measurement, and infrared thermography at quarterly intervals to identify cover wear progression, splice condition deterioration, and heat buildup at drive pulleys. Belt tension is optimised at 1.5–2.2% sag at commissioning, with moulded edge sealing and ceramic impact protection at primary loading points representing the highest-return maintenance interventions for service life extension.
